Acoustic Seal around windows

I am currently in the process of putting up vapor barrier and was intenting to tuck tape the vapor barrier around the windows. I was told that according to code I have to apply acoustic seal as well. I can't find anything on line verifying that this is a requirement. Can anyone confirm?

Have you called your local code office?

Where is the home located?

Acoustic Seal around windows

Lilly: first make sure a vapor barrier is a good idea in your climate. an air barrier/vapor RETARDER may be a better choice. the goo, like tremco acoustical sealant, is quite good stuff and will go a long way in minimizing leakage down the road. try to join you barrier product over studs so you can staple the layers tight, and goo between. code may prescribe that you do that on two adjacent studs; not sure on that.
