water loving plant
Is there a water loving plant I can plant in basement? My Q is NOT ABOUT LIGHT, got it. What is a name of a water loving plant that would do good in a basement? I have a dirt floor & want to put plants in to absorb the water coming out of the ground.

All water loving plant that I am aware of also love lot of light----with grow lights about any of them will thrive---

Sounds like you are trying to fix a wet basement issue. But like oh'mike said, you will need to pay to run lights. It might be better to just fix the problem.
|
You could install grow lights, or replace your current lighting with grow bulbs....that may help plants grow a bit if there is no natural light.
|
Ayuh,... I think there's a few molds, 'n algaes that'll grow without light...
|
I have light. I'm going to plant plants
Does anyone know the names of any kind they tried?
|
I think people grow cannabis in their basements.

You said light was not an issue right? Are you talking damp or a swamp down there.
I agree that it sounds like you are trying to fix a potentially serious drainage problem with plant material and I think you are going about it the wrong way. If the soil is just moist and not wet and soggy. I suppose a basement garden with lots of light could be interesting. If you must, get a book on stream or pondside plants---reeds, swamp grasses, cattails, etc.---and you should be good to go. Your other issue though is drainage and save for truly aquatic kinds plants, not many do well with constantly soggy roots. |
