I'm very happy with how it looks with a red door. We also replaced the windows because we are going to use the front porch as a bed room and the old windows were very drafty. I'd love your suggestions on how to frame them because it doesn't look finished like this. The windows are lower than the old windows so the contractor had to close them off on top. Frame with shutters or just a "molding"? Do you think black shutters would look good?

Black shutters would not look good. The windows are not set up to fit shutters. I would investigate a fuller molding with a trim color perhaps.

What about a couple of well made flower boxes? Then you can put color without it being permanent. You could draw in the natural color of your gazebo. If the raw wood doesn't look good, prime and paint it.

Or, draw in the wrought iron and do this type of window box.

Or this. Love these and they would break up the height.

And add these (in black) on the side of the windows. More flowers to break up the white.

Plus they are removable!

windows are too tight for shutters, remove the stone colums pulls on house shape....cut those bushes down or remove them...and believe it or not trim the windows all around with a color little darker then what ever roof color that is.....check out Curb Appleal "The Block" HGTV videos for awesome up front rehabs..some just done with paint and plantings

I love your ideas shadytrake! I'll put my husband to design flower boxes.

Fix'n it we would change the color but right now I'm trying to work with budget updates since the siding is not in horrible shape.

biggles, why remove the stone columns?? I don't love them but imagine that they have a structural purpose. Maybe I can wash them with bleach and try to make them a little lighter.
