Tulip bulbs in North Carolina

I was given a bag of 100 Tulip bulbs (Darwin Hybrid I believe). They've been sitting outside for about 3 months. I know little about bulbs, however I've seen tulip bulbs sitting in a box outdoors at my local Home Depot, so I assume they can survive that way.

Can they still be planted and expected to bloom? I don't want to throw them away obviously, but I don't want to waste the time digging 100 holes if they won't grow.

Dig you must. Put them in asap. Pointy side up.
