Tree Roots

I recently cut down a large oak in from of my home and had the stump grinded. There are roots from the tree running underneath my driveway creating cracks in the pavement. I plan to have the driveway redone in the spring and Iím thinking I should treat the roots with some sort of solution to soften the roots to make it easier to deal with when the time comes. Is this the right approach and if so can someone recommend a product?
Thanks

Tree Roots

Leave them alone. You will just be wasting your money. There are enzymes, bacteria and chemicals for speeding up the breakdown of stumps and roots but nothing is going to act that quickly. And when it is time to get rid of them, you are still going to have to dig around them for clearance and take a chainsaw to them---softened or not.

Tree Roots

It would be best if when you redo the driveway you also dig those old roots completly out of the ground. If not, as there rotting the driveway will start to sink in that area.
