Plant Identification (wild ginger?)
We have quite a number of rhizomes that look like a wild ginger except that the leaves are fuzzy. They look exquisite in the spring, but by late summer they develop yellow flowers on very long stems (think dandelion) that are ugly. By fall the plants are a tangled mess.
Can anyone identify what they are from these photos?
Doronicum grandiflorum "leopards bane"
This is a well regarded, but uncommon, garden perennial. It works well to simply trim the stalks after the flowers fade, the fresh foliage comes up from below ( as in the photo.) It's so interesting to have yellow daisy flowers in the shade. Google the name.....Doronicum grandiflorum "Leopards Bane" (it could be another Doronicum but it looks like grandiflorum.)
Thank you! :)
