lettuce

we have lettuce growing very well, and we are eating it. do lettuce plants "regrow" leaves after they are plucked ? or, once they are all plucked, plant is done ?

plucked and done

hmm. I thought if you cut it low, but don't shear it all off it comes back. Also I think the 2nd growing won't be as tender. Isn't lettuce an early spring crop?

Try it.

I pick the outer leaves and let the plant continue to grow. It will grow taller as you pick until it reaches the point where it bolts, gets bitter and goes to seed.

I have pulled the entire plant - no regrow
I have cut outer leaves. Plant still grows
I have cut the entire head about 3" above the ground. Plant will regrow

I'll take pics of some of mine later and post if you'd like.

Also, I had about 12 heads come up from last year. Most people say that lettuce is bitter the second year but mine has been great so far.

It is the quality of plant when we pluck their leaves they re-grow, whether it is lettuce or any green vegetable.
