Laying sod in winter

We don't have a severe climate here in winter and I would like to lay some free sod available. There is a mixture of soil and decomposed bark mulch there now. Is there anything special I need to do to prepare the ground before I lay the sod.

Laying sod in winter

#1 No one here knows where you are since you did not add your location to your profile.
#2 Ever once seen a real farmer spread straw on a field?
Unless your planning on spreading grass seed it's not needed.
