Hollihock

My wife and I planted some hollihock this year. Beautiful when in bloom but pretty depressing when not. Can I just cut down the stalks? They're still green but fading fast.

Thanks

They do turn rather gray and nasty. I would trim them back once they are done.

Thanks sd. Storm blew them over on Saturday.

Hollyhocks are biennial, which means they only bloom every second year. They are also prolific self-seeders, so ideally, over time, your hollyhock patch will always have some in bloom.
