Typically silicone caulk is used in showers and baths. I'm trusting that you are using more than just plain drywall. Tub and tile caulks are silicone, but also incorporate some mold inhibitors in thier formulas.

It is not mold free, it might be mold resistant but it will degrade in a years time and need replaced. At least that has been my experience.

The area between the sheetrock and an enclosure is never done with 100% silicone.
It's not paintable.
Siliconeized that says paintable right on the lable will work.

you need more then drywall behind the tile. some type of waterproofing needs to be behind the tile. if you use drywall you can go over it with kerdi. if you use cement board you can use a paint on waterproofing like red guard or similar. just drywall behind tile is doomed before you use it the first time. grout is not water proof so you will end up with moisture behind the tile. when you say waterproof drywall are you referring to green board? drywall hasn't been allowed in showers for years unless its covered with kerdi. use color matched caulk that matches your grout in the corners or 100% silicone on the inside. but if you don't waterproof behind the tile it doesn't matter what you use. what did you use to seal the joints in the waterproof drywall with?

I think i'm missing something here, he never said anything about tile. I hope he is not doing just drywall. and I have never heard of waterproof drywall. I wonder if this could be one of those fiberglass 3 piece units.

@DannyT ... Yes to the green board type . I had a guy do my bathtub tiles years ago . Now I am changing the bathtub and to get the bathtub out I had to break the bottom tiles . So now I'm redoing those tiles .
