What to fill in large nail holes

My walls have several large nail holes from where curtain supports used to be. (almost enough to fit my pinky in)

What do I use to fill those holes back in so it will be sturdy enough to reinstall curtain rods?

Thank you!

For a hole that big I would use drywall tape (paper tape) to cover the area.

Not sure why "nail" holes would exist. Do you mean screws? I would not be installing curtain rods with nails.

You can't fill it in and expect to put screws back in the exact same spot. Look for studs to screw into, or move the new curtain rods an inch one way or the other, or if you must use the same holes then there's no need to fill them, but get fasteners that tight behind the drywall.

Not these

I had the same issue in a guest bedroom - I filled the holes with liquid nails 95% of the way - let it dry, then sparkle the remaining area. I then sanded the sparkle smooth and repainted the section.

For hanging new rods, just raise, lower or shift so it's not being mounted in the same spot.

Assuming that your spell checker is incorrectly changing "spackle" to "sparkle", I think I actually like that idea.

What? You don't add sparkle to your rooms?
