Wet sanding new drywall

Is it easy to do for a beginner? Any negatives? We need to sand an 18' X 18' ceiling in my daughter's basement, including 2 soffits. The main reason would be to keep the dust down. Thanks.

See your local Home Depot or construction rental places rents drywall sanders.

I'm not exactly a beginner but I never got it to work for me where I was happy with it.

You have to be really good at drywall so that you would need limited sanding between coats and final coat in order for you to replace the dry sanding with wet sanding. It's a lot of extra drying time. Vacuum sand it and tarp off the area you a working in will be faster.
