Too heavy compound in inside corners
Okay, I remember doing this same thing about 10 years ago. I used a corner trowel and left the first coat too heavy. Now as it dries, it's cracking in the very corner. Can I take something and scrape a notch in the crack and skim coat it again? and expect it not to crack later? I was doing one side of the corners and then the next day doing the other side using a 6 inch knife. Then I remembered having the corner trowel out in the garage. Wish I hadn't thought of it now

Too heavy compound in inside corners
here's how much I hate corner trowels..... I taught myself to do a corner with a 6" knife that is flat and do it perfectly.... takes fast drying mud, a very steady hand and good eye sight to make sure you don't dig into the corner's other side

Indeed and especially the little ones. They are worthless for inside or outside corners but the box store sell tons of them.
Some of the larger flex ones can come in handy getting the compound in but I always do corners with my long blade. |

Too heavy compound in inside cornersQuote:
Yeah, the one I have is the larger one. It would probably work okay if I had put more pressure on it. Or as you said follow it with a broader knife. Thanks for the reply |
