Textured Walls

I am really not understanding construction and really need some advice. Can you tape drywall, mud it and do texture on the walls all in one day?

Are you 110% sure you want to texture the walls?
Near imposable to clean, far harder to paint, and next to imposable to repair and have it match.
If you look around on this site and any other DIY site you'll see people asking how to get it off the walls and no one asking how to apply it.

Not true. People ask how to add texture all the time and nicely textured walls can add character. No doubt any time you increase texture you add surface area to which dirt and other airborne things can stick but unless you are rendering hogs in the living room you can keep walls clean so long as you use a good quality paint store paint you can dust off and wash once in awhile.

I guess if you used dry mix/hot mud you could conceivably tape, mud and texture in the same day if you are experienced at the tasks. Coats of lightweight pre-mix compound will probably not dry fast enough though. Why the rush? Can't you alot 2-3 days or is their a schedule crunch putting the room back in use?

very possible with sheetrock 20 and a good taper but why? nothing needs to be that rushed and you have to wait 24hours before painting it
