Selecting a Drywall Contractor

I am just about ready for drywall in my basement. What are some questions I should ask when they come to quote?

Referances and follow up on them, go look at the job or at least call and talk to the past customer.
Licence, insurance, If there going to prime after finish so you can find all the flaws before final payment.

Thanks.

Do most drywall contractors apply the primer?

No just some.
Mine get paid 1/2 when it's all hung and the balance after it's primed and all repairs and touch up has been done.
Near imposable to get a 100% perfect job and once the primer goes on the flaws will show up.
I've found lots of missed sanding spots loose tape, messed up inside corners, seam lines showing once the primer went on.
Once they get all there money good luck getting them back to do the touch ups.

I don't know many that will do the primer, most just use a bright light. Then the primer goes to the painter. And I agree don't just ask for references check them. Ask friends and neighbors if they know anything about them or if they know someone who has had work done. Check with Better Business, not that stupid Angies List.
