Repairing drywall tape

Guess I can't complain, but after 30+ years the tape is peeling away from the sheetrock in several places around the house, especially in the corners.
Any tips on removing the old stuff with minimum damage?
Once I get the loose stuff off, should I tape & float again or is there a better solution? My son-in-law tells me that lost of new construction is using flexible filler (caulk) in corners instead.

Never saw the flexible caulk route.
Easy just to cut the tape and remove the loose parts. Check to see if moisture is doing this. Drywall tape doesn't generally just fail after that length of time without a precipitating cause.
If there's no issue, just tape as usual.

Tear out the loose stuff, re-tape and finish. Caulk is ok for short term fix of minor cracks in corners, not for an actual finished product. Corners often crack out and tape "pops" due to lumber movement during heating and cooling seasons....
