Removing dropp ceiling or not?

should i remove my drop ceiling and drywall to the top of my beams. this will give me more height but cover all my plumbing and electrical work. worst case problem is that i have electrical, or plumbing issues. drop ceiling makes it easier to get to.

drywall on the ceiling definitely looks a lot nicer then a drop ceiling. although they do make some pretty nice looking tiles these days. i'd say go look at the different options out there for tiles and if you dont find anything you like then drywall it but put access panels or heat registers to access needed areas. you may run into issues where plumbing goes below the ceiling joists and you'll have to install strapping to bring it down. and there may also be electrical issues such as junction boxes up there that you cant cover. do some investigating find out what your going to be in to. crunch the numbers and figure out your costs and well do whatever the wife wants to make her happy.

You don't say if this is a basement or a first floor. If it is a basement leave the drop ceiling because there are to many things you don't want to hide. If it's the first floor of a 2 story, drywall. Almost all 2 story homes have plaster or drywall on the ceiling. The amount of stuff hidden is usually minimal and if there is a problem cut a hole in the drywall, fix problem, repair drywall.
