Remove stucco

What is the easiest way to remove stucco from ceilings so that you don't ruin the drywall? Thanks

Stucco is generally fairly thick and coarse. I don't know of any easy way to remove it. Depending on what the material is, if the person used plaster, your in trouble, and might want to try going over top with new sheetrock. If it is a hand texture and if they used a sandable mud then you can take a heavy grit sand paper and try to sand it down. It is always hard to get through the paint that lays on top of the texture, but if it is a sandable mud, once you break through the paint it sands fairly easy. Then, if you can get it all off you are doing good and if you can't then you can skim over the top of it with new mud to hide any thing that is left.

Remove stucco

i think what your talking about is called stipel.
it looks like stucco, but its only spryed over the drywall.
to remove stipel, as long as its not painted,
just scrape it with a large putty, then sand the remaing with a pole sander.
if its been painted with an oil paint then you should have the ceiling
re plaster.
if its stucco there is no easy way to remove it .

i doubt if it is stucko that is usually done on the out side of a home
i bet you either have knock down ,orange peel, popcorn or stimple
these are the usual covers
if it is popcorn then scrape sand and sheer coat the same with stimple texture
if it is orange peel or knock down sheer coat
all will require sanding
