Reasonable Labor Price for Applying Drywall?

I hired a contractor to completely redo a bathroom. The labor and materials costs have already been detailed, documented, and signed off on. There are minor run-ins we've encountered that have incurred additional costs, and thats understandable.

The drywall had be be completely replaced from wall to wall and he is trying to charge ment $1,300. The contractor has two sub-contractors doing the work, and he claims that they are charging him this additional fee for the labor of putting up drywall. Does this seem a little extreme to you? I'm going to discuss this price with this later because it seems a little absurd to me. Thanks!

It's not possible to give you an accurate answer with the information provided. There are many factors that go into a price.

• How much drywall?
• Additional demo
• disposal
• painting
• Finishing
• texturing
• priming
• Replaceing trim and millwork
• additional time to aquire materials
• removal and replacement of fixtures on said wall
• additional protection of adjacent surfaces

Some or all of these things may apply to your specific situation.
If you question the cost, the best thing to do is discuss it with the contractor. It's best to discuss the details now rather than latter.

Here's a SWAG ... $50/sheet. Complete. hang to paint.
So $1300 - 10% for the GC = $1170 for the subs. $1170/50 = ~23 sheets.
So going by my formula, that's a room a bit smaller than 16'x16' walls & ceiling.
