Raw edges on flood damaged drywall
A friend is trying to rebuild after a horrendous flood. He has horizontally placed drywall and has had to cut it at 4 feet or higher to remove damage. The edges are rough and he plans to put new board up and have professionals come in to tape, mud, and finish. Will they be able to get a decent looking job with butt edges meeting raw edges like this? His ceilings are about 9 feet. Thank you.

Why can't he cut a straight line?

Well, let's say he gets his lines straight. Can the raw edges (now straight!) and the butt edges line up well enough to make a nice join?

If they truly are professional finishers, they will be able to finish the joints just fine. Your friend might want to get a pro to hang it also to make sure it's done properly also.
