Plaster Walls, Holes From Switch Boxes

Our electrical upgrade is progressing nicely. I have quite a few empty holes in my plaster walls where old switch/outlet boxes used to be. What's a quick and dirty, yet solid, method to fill the holes and blend them in? Thanks everyone in advance.

quick-no,dirty-yes.solid=best I've found.

do not try to fill boxes with anything! get some 5/8 drywall. the boxes are usually like 2"x3"? cut pieces of 5/8 drywall 4"x5", turn drywall pieces over and score inside paper to 2"x3" or size of boxes,

remove inside paper from box size and scrape off gypsum, leaving only outside paper as smooth as possible having at least 1 inch of paper all around hole. then use drywall Spackle and apply Spackle around perimeter of box.

put pieces of 5/8 drywall with only the paper over hole and Spackle it in. the paper will serve as drywall tape, then with arched knife or trowel apply two more coats over entire thing after has been completely dry.

let dry completely between coats coat and feather out edges until you're satisfied with blending in. May never be completely perfect? but will allow you to feather it out to suit yourself.

as usual, just my thoughts

good luck

There's no reason why coupes method shouldn't hide completely in 2 or 3 muddings.
