paper tape or mesh tape

i ran out of paper tape. i have some mesh tape that someone gave to me.

ive never used mesh tape. is it good or will i get crappy results?

It's not crappy, just a whole lot more work to cover it up with out the fiber showing through.
Going to have to have up to a 12" wide joint so there's not a hump.

paper overall is better. when using mesh you should use a setting compound for atleast the first coat to avoid cracking. if you see you are running low on paper tape use it for your butt joints and inside corners then use the mesh for the flats so you dont have to skim like what joecaption said.
