Painting Plaster with Drywall patches
One coat quality primer, two coats quality paint
Be sure the patches are as smooth as possible and feathered nicely before prime
Paint colors, it doesn't fill
If, after the primer, some obvious uneven patches appear (this often makes the "not quite" areas show up clearly), then skim some more joint compound, feather sand, wipe clean of dust, and spot prime the raw j/c areas before painting
(It will be much easier to repair any "iffy" areas before you start applying paint)
