Noise reduction

Multilevel house with two bedrooms below the kitchen and living room, and have two other bedrooms above the family room. What is the best alternative to reducing noises to the bedrooms from the living areas?

Roxwool, and following the steps that is used for home theater building if you wish to dive into that expense, to cut noise transition room to room. You really do not want to know how much it costs to isolate rooms from noise transitioning between them.

They make a product called quiet rock, its the same thickness as regular drywall but for noise it's equivalent to 7 or 8 sheets of regular drywall the drawback as stated is cost it runs about $100 a sheet
