new drywall old paint help plz


I had to rip down old ceiling and replace it with new drywall

the old ceiling was only 3/8 and i replaced it with 5/8 drywall

the only thing i need to know is when i remud the corners can i just go over the old painted walls? or do i have to do something to the walls?

new drywall old paint help plz


Anything you try to do to the existing wall's sheetrock will probably do more harm than good. I'd suggest just taping over the paint. You might want to rough up the paint with some sandpaper if it is really glossy, just to ensure decent adhesion.
