New Drywall- do you have to do the ceiling too?
Hello, I am new to the DIY projects and currently working on gutting my spare bathroom due to some mold issues. My question is, since I am planning on replacing 3/4 of the drywall on the walls (1 wall is seemingly unaffected) do I have to remove the drywall from the ceiling and replace that I would like to go to the tile shop and do some research, any interest in joining me? I would prefer not to but am wondering how I go about the seem where to wall meets the ceiling then. Thanks for the thoughts!

if there is nothing wrong with the ceiling then there shouldnt be any reason to remove it. if its a flat ceiling you just butt your wall board to the ceiling then put paper tape into the corner and you will have to repaint the ceiling. if you have a textured ceiling and dont want to tape to it then put J channel on the top of the wall boards and mud the J then caulk between the J channel and the ceiling.

You have to cut the tape along the seam before removing the sheetrock on the wall or you'll peel the paper on the drywall off.
There is no 3/4 drywall, 1/2 is used on a wall.

I always remove drywall wall to wall or at least to above a door or something.
Gives a better/easier job that way.

If the ceiling is textured cut the drywall about 6" down from the ceiling and join there.
Always tape square edge to square edge and tapered edge to tapered edge.

Go to you tube and watch every video by Myron about drywall. And some others too.
