As a rule, (around here anyway) contractors don't paint ceiling texture. It is "supposedly" a finished product. That's why they like it. They don't have to pay the painting contractor for that footage. It SHOULD be painted, but you may have to pay extra if you're looking at a new house....

I assume you are referring to knockdown? if you are it should be painted. If you are referring to popcorn, it doesnt have to be painted.

Yeah, wasn't even thinking knockdown since it isn't used around here. Even popcorn or stipple should be painted but normally isn't.

we have popcorn, house is 12 years old and ceilings arent painted, they are just fine except a little yellow from cigarette smoke
