I had some foundation cracks fixed and am closing the walls back up and redoing a 12" wall. Everything is going fine except this particular patch is proving a little bother some. The patch is 15"W x 32"T. Part of the patch board is slightly lower on the problem area. When I applied the 2nd coat the top and right side tape bubbled severly after about 15 minutes. I just peeled the tape off and decided to wait foreverything to dry. Any thoughts on how to deal with this? I will have a tape width channel after it dries. I was thinking of reseting the tape with some Durabond after everything dries. Then recoating it to bring it back upeven with everything else.

If you are using paper tape (and ready mix), it needs to dry thoroughly before another coat is applied or "blistering" can occur. Kgphoto's advice is sound if you're trying to speed up the process, and will make for fewer coats to fill the "void" as it doesn't shrink as much.
