narrow wall

Hello all

I already know we need to install drywall horizontally for added strength.

But with a narrow wall (i.e. 40" wide) do we still have to hang it horizontally and have to join every 4ft or we can just take off 8" from its length and hang it vertically (we don't have to do the join)?

Thanks

Vertical is fine.
If there's an outside corner, don't put the tapered edge there.
If both sides are outside corners, cut 4" from each side to get rid of the tapered edge.

You don't HAVE to hang horizontally. I have always done vertical because I hate butt joints... but that is a Ford vs. Chevy, tastes great vs. less filling, Ginger vs. Mary Ann argument.

Go ahead and hang vertical and you will be A-OK.
