molding for a vertical wall??

i've decided to pull the drywall away from a wall to expose the old brick underneath. the ceiling, side walls are still drywall and there's about in inch gap between the edge and the brick (removed furring strips and old drywall) which is very unsightly and i was to somehow make it look like a nice transition.

i was wondering if anyone has used the floor molding strips against a vertical wall? if so how does it look? odd?

any other suggestions are appreciated as well.

I think a cove molding would look better.

Usually tacked up with a finish nailer or brad nailer.
