Is moisture resistant sheetrock required?

Is moisture resistant sheetrock required in a kitchen? I was going to at least put it up around the stove and sink. But do the codes require it?

No, but nice to have along the wall where the sink is, going up at least 18" to 24" above the counter, if you do not plan on a tile backsplash.

If doing tile above the counter, I would just place it where the sink base is going.

Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Ren: Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool! Stimpy: So what'll happen? Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

I agree to check with local AHJ, and there are restrictions when using it; http://publicecodes.cyberregs.com/ic..._25_par037.htm

Here is that GA-216 the code mentions; http://www.lafargenorthamerica.com/G...%20English.pdf

If any ads are present in my answer above, I do not condone/support/use the product or services listed, they are there against my permission.
