Low basement ceiling - lighter material to cover it up?
I have a dilemma. We are thinking of putting up drywall for our basement storage room, here is a photo:

Other than drywall, is there any other lighter materials that we can use to cover it up, and yet still make it look higher?? I think all we really care about is to cover up those pink fiberglass insulation and make the room look better... Thanks! |
Maybe 4x8 sheets of beadboard they are really thin, not expensive, and can be painted but you should start your own thread or the answers can get confusing as to which question is being answered.

cut drywall to width of between the joists. Hold in place with 3/4round, or cove, or 1x1 or 1x2 etc.
Paint it a bright white or a very very slightly gray white color. |
Started you a new thread rather than hi-jack another member's, Gary

Thanks all, just curious, thickness wise, how does beadboard compare to drywall? How about the weight? Does drywall much heavier than beadboard (is it made of PVC by the way)? How do you secure drywall or beadboard to the ceiling? Thanks!

if you are just wanting to cover the insulation why not use building wrap like tyvek or typar? would allow the floor to breath and provide cover for insulation, easily stapled to joists.
