Are you talking about sheetrock or foam?
If it's sheetrock then when ever possible install 12' sheets horizontal, install the ceiling first, then the top sheet on the wall. The bottom sheet needs to be about 1/2" off the floor. |
RE: Sheetrock Installation
You don't state your location. From what I understand, seismic zones require horizontal installation (Tho I am no expert on seismic zones). Typical commercial installation onto steel, is always vertical with seams staggered on each side of the wall (so that they don't align parallel). From a residential standpoint, you can install horizontally (same as wood framing). However, there are some specific aspects (methods) to installing on steel that adds to the ridgidity of each wall segment. Make sure that you use self-tapping fine thread screws. You can also use drywall or panel adhesive if you prefer to. |
if your talking about foam you have to install it horizontally so to orientate the ship lap so that water will run down the sheet and out as opposed to in.
for fastening you need plasti -top self tapping screws. the plastic washer on teh screw is what holds the foam in place otherwise the foam will come off after the first bit of heavy wind |
Well, we're 2 for 2, which is it- drywall blue board for veneer plaster or blue colored insulating board sheathing?
