How would you finish this ceiling if I removed the wall?

traditional plaster walls with an arched ceiling transition. However, I want to remove a wall to incorporate a narrow hallway into the room.

The problem is, the hallway ceiling is just a traditional 90 degree ceiling joint...

so if I remove the wall... how do I blend the different ceiling joint profiles?

I dont want to remove and refinish the other 3 wall joints and I dont have the skill to extend this style into the hallway.

my prevailing thought is to leave the top foot of the wall to retain the ceiling transitions as is... obviously would cast doubt on the illusion that this should be 1 room.

Anyone have a better idea?

left is the hallway, right is the other room ceiling transition

Cut the wall off below the crown molding and leave a small beam look across the room.

How high are the ceilings? I would suggest styling it like a really wide doorway. Look up "wide doorway" on google images and you'll see what I mean.
