How to remove drywall plaster from a wool rug?

Anyone know what would work well for removing drywall plaster that is dried onto a wool rug? I would like to remove the plaster and also preserve the rug and its colors.

If you mean drywall compund, I've used a curry comb, like a horse groomer uses. Rub it in circles on the carpet. When all the crumbs are broken loose, vac them up and finish up with a damp rag. No need to use any kind of detergent that might affect the carpet. Drywall compound is pretty inert and water based.

On a side note -- how toxic is it to breathe drywall dust?

Sorry. You likely won't live past 103.

It's not toxic, but your nostrils, sinuses, and lungs are not going to like it (if that makes any sense).
