How to properly install vent grilles so that they stay in place?
I decided to rip out all the old cheap, painted over vent grilles, in my house, and bought pretty antique bronze ones, which according to my measurements, fit exactly into the openings in the drywall. However, none of the grilles wants to stay in. It's not the screw-into-the-wall kind, so they should 'supposedly' just click into the duct work, but the duct work isn't perfectly square and the little plastic holders are flimsy. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to make sure they stay put. Has anyone else run into this issue?

All depends on if you want them removable for cleaning or not I guess....
You can easily GLUE them to the walls, but to remove them to clean inside could be a bit of a problem down the

Maybe wrap some friction tape around those "little plastic holders" to tighten up the fit and give them some bite.

Powerful Magnets maybe?

Sounds like you may have inadvertently purchased grills intended for floor application, not wall/ceiling. They should have screws to keep them in place....
