Hanging drywall in odd sized (e.g 5ft) rooms and hallways
I have two closets that measure 5'x6.5'. The 5' dimension runs in the direction of the TJI joists. Is the proper method for hanging drywall (1) to put up a 4' strip of drywall and then a 1' strip. (2) Put up two 2.5 strips of drywall perpendicular with the joists. or (3) put up a 4' strip and a 6.5' strip of drywall? Or does it matter?
I also have a hallway that is 5'2" that runs perpendicular to the joists. Same question. Do I add a 14" strip or do I run them with the joists. Or split the difference.
Drywall is tapered on the 4' edges. This makes it easier to hide the tape and mud. Start with a 4' and finish with whatever you need, being sure that the tapered edges end up together.
