Fur down a celing for drywall question
I'm finishing my basement and I am getting close to doing the electric. I was going to begin to fur down the celing just enough to clear the conduit that exists currently. My questions are for one Should I run my boards along the base of the floor joists or should I lay my strips accross the joists? And should I wait to do this until after the electric has been run? I guess if I lay the strips accross the joists then I'd still be able to run my conduit but if I go along the the base of the joists then I will have an issue running my conduit later. I"m not sure what the proper way to do this would be?

Also is it ok to go with 2x3x8 boards instead of 2x4? There a little narrower but should provide enough to screw drywall into.

2x3 should be fine. Going perpendicular to your joists will allow you to shim at the joists more easily so you can get your ceiling perfectly flat.

Probably easier to run the electrical lines first.
