Flush drawers in drywall - better way?

Hi everyone,

I am building a set of 8 drawers that will be going underneath a set of stairs. Specifically, on the side wall. I need for the drawers to be flush mounted to the dry wall. I was thinking of bulding a face frame that would be flush with the dry wall. But, how would I protect the edges of the dry wall the would meet the edges of the face frame. Perhaps those metal edge moulding around the drywall opening that meets the face fame?

Then taking that and blending the dry wall and face together so it is all uniform. So when a drawer is opened it all appears as drywall. I am worried about cracking.

Thank you so much for that reply.

Nick

Bring the drywall up close to the frame. Caulk the gap with paintable caulk.
