Fixing a newbie mistake

I tore out a closet and attempted to patch it with strips of drywall. When I originally did it, I didn't realize how uneven the strips were with the rest of the drywall or how much filling I tried to do to overcome that. What I ended up with was an uneven mess.

I'm trying to figure out can I try to scrape down the work that I have done and redo it, or should I cut it all out and just create one seam?

I can't tell from pic but looks like the tape bubbled up on you,if that's the case cut the tape out and start over, put the blade of the tapping knife on it that will tell where your high and low spots are
