Electric box in a tapered edge joint

I have a switch box that falls in the middle of a horizontal tapered edge seam. I was thinking of covering the box with masking tape and then just taping and mudding over it like it wasn't there. After sanding I would just cut it out of the finished wall. Is there a better approach?

Thanks,

Brian

Yep, that'll work. I usually just mud starting at the box and moving away from it without tape. If there is any on the box when I'm done I just chip it off.

I often do just what you are anticipating. It works quite well.
