which is easier? Move electric boxes or use 5/8" sheetrock on walls

I removed paneling and sheetrock behind it one 2 walls. I'm ready to close in the walls and Now I have about 8 boxes that are set out 5/8" from the studs. I wasn't thinking when I bought 1/2" sheetrock. I'm trying to find out is it easier to move the electrical boxes or return the sheetrock for 5/8"?
This is my first remodeling project I have some sheetrock experience but I want to do whatever is easier.

Redo the boxes and get them sitting for the 1/2" You can use a scrap piece of gypsum, or ply to make sure.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
