i have a shop vac with a hepa filter and a soft brush end and i vac the walls. or take a soft bristle broom and brush down towards the floor and i use a paint brush in the top corners. i then sweep lightly or shop vac up the floor then give it a quick mop. then i break out the primer.

Much better.
Brush it off then wipe down with a slighty damp rag to be 100% sure you got it all.
Primers not going to stick to the wall with dust on it.

Drywall dust is very fine so don't be surprised if you need to wipe it down a couple times.
