Drywalling around knee walls etc....option A or B


Not even going to try and explain this sooooo..........

Lets say on the below image, the black is a framed beam or knee wall that needs to be covered in drywall. The red is the drywall. I left gaps so to speak so you can understand what I am talking about.

Do you use option A or B for wrapping beams, knee walls and other bits and pieces that stick out from the walls? Does it matter or is one stronger than the other or does the corner bead take care of it either way?

Both ways will work but your still going to need outside corner moulding to cover the outside edges.

it's really doesn't matter. it's not uncommon to do like this either.

I was surprised that nobody mentioned that being bad in the thread about a bad drywall job. I didn't realize that was acceptable. I think it's a bad idea especially with metal corner bead.

ya do A. i always fill in with the left over scraps and that small piece is larger and less likely to break when installing it.
