drywall question

I am covering part of an existing wall with 1/2" drywall. Will taping the joint be enough or would I have to build the wall out? It's just a small wall in the kitchen and I really did not want to furit out, losing space.

Thank You

Bill

drywall question

sounds like there is some missing info. Is the wall just framed studs now? What makes you ask whether you need to fur it out? Are you trying to make the 1/2 drywall match something thicker that is already on part of the wall??

I'm not sure I am understanding what you are trying to say, so here is a pic of a traffic cone wearing a dust mask.
