Question

drywall existing stairs that have carpet

Does the carpet have to be removed from my stairs before drywalling. We removed paneling from the wall and want to drywall but stairs are carpeted. There is no wood trim on wall sides of stairs. This is just a 1930's home with nothing real fancy. I need some suggestions. The carpet continues into the upstairs hall and down stairs hall. ............

drywall existing stairs that have carpet

Peggers, Welcome to the Forum

I would think that removing the carpet just from the stairs would not be a big deal. After all there has to be a seam at the top of the stairs. When the carpet was originally laid, the installers did not start with one humongous piece that would flow the stairs.

Can you include a pic?

I could remove carpet but then would have to put it back or have new installed because the stairs are just "crap" stairs..not fancy wood.

Thanks for answering me.
