Drywall edge at fireplace
I've got a question on how to proceed. I need to find a way to finish the edge of drywall on the side of my basement fireplace.
I attached a couple of pics to help. What I want to do is drywall the sides and the face above the mantle. On the side, I was thinking of running the drywall up to the mortar joint between the brick and block. The problem is the brick is flush with the block. Is there an attractive way to finish the exposed edge of the drywall?
I was thinking of wood trim, but I'm thinking it would look odd.
As I said, this is my basement and eventually I'd like to redo the whole thing in stone veneer, but for now I just want to get it done for the sake of time and money.
There is a drywall J channel for this, yes your drywall will stick out about 1/2" - no way around it.
yup vinyl J bead and skim coat it
