drywall & compound
hey all pros , i was wandering on new drywall if you tape
the seams then compound them wont there
be a noticeable seam and protrude through the paint ? like
when you repair a wall you can see the patch .

the tape & compound wont be flat to the wall .

thx for any advice

Dry wall is never truly flat like plaster---the butt joints are always proud of the surface---thin wide taping makes that thicker area appear 'flat' but it is an illusion.

I have seen "stick on" tape that is supposed to eliminate the step of mudding on the tape. If that is helpful to you? That would take care of one coat and some sanding.

I like the good old fashioned paper tape. Set it in mud one day. Skim coat it out the next. Sand, prime and paint when it is dry.

Make sure you use a wide knife.
