Drywall Ceiling span

Jim Braffet Newbie   Join Date: Dec 2012 Posts: 1	Drywall Ceiling span I am drywalling a basement ceiling and the span to cover the ductwork is 29". Is there danger of the drywll sagging with a 29" span?

sixeightten Framing Contractor   Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: NE Ohio Posts: 865	Drywall Ceiling span Can you span it with flat 2x material first and then add the drywall? Gonna lose 1 1/2" of height but 29" is starting to get out of my comfort area.
