crack repair help
2 Attachment(s)
I tried repairing this crack but it came back. I used the typical taping approach with paper tape. I also suspect I may have a repair on top of a previous repair. The house is almost 40 yrs old so I doubt this is the first time this crack has appheared. What would be the best aproach?

Cut out the crack with a utility knife. Use mesh tape and hot mud to do the mud work. If you can drive some screws on either side of the crack. You may need to install a 1x board behind the crack if you have access to it for additional support.

thats a stress crack on that point load if i'm looking at this right. you may want to cut out that small section of drywall and see how that intersection is fastened

Well, I decided to open it up a little. Turned out the framing arround this area was not super accurate and the drywall was not completly connected to the framing. The crack had also been repaired once before. I built up the framing with 3/4 plywood and pocket screws.
